Park Lake Drive Baptist Church

Busy Beavers has been a ministry of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church since 1971. On the third Thursday of each month from March to November residents from area nursing homes come for a meal and entertainment. Some nursing homes provide their own transportation and for others Park Lake sends vans to pick them up. There may be as many as 110 people from nursing homes in the area on well attended months.

 Food is provided by church members through the Sunday School classes and through the church budget. Workers from the nursing homes help to serve and take care of the special needs of the residents from their facility.  Some families of residents will also join in using  it  as an opportunity to have a meal out with their elderly loved ones.  To make the time even more special the church remembers birthdays with a card and gift for each resident who is celebrating a birthday that month.

 There is a  team of people who faithfully work the ministry cooking, setting up, cleaning up, greeting, and carrying out a number of other tasks that are needed to make each event a success.   One worker has been with Busy Beavers since it started. Reta Lain credits her, Jo Cox, with being one of the ones who saw the need and got the ministry started.

 It is ministries like these that keep the local church alive and vital to their community.
