Hunger Statistics

Food insecurity, or hunger, occurs when at some point during the year, a household was “…uncertain of having, or unable to acquire, enough food for all household members because they had insufficient money or other resources for food”.[1]

  • National:   14.7% of households are food insecure.[2]
  • Texas:   17.4% of households are food insecure
  • Mclennan County:   19% (n= 43,120) ofindividuals are food insecure.[3]
